PISTA® TURBO™ Grit Pump

The PISTA® TURBO™ Grit Pump is purpose-built for pumping grit that has been separated from sewage, making it the only pump on the market designed exclusively for this abrasive-duty application. It is available in a top-mounted, vacuum-primed configuration as well as a remote-mounted, flooded-suction configuration to suit a variety of plant layouts. The pump is fitted with a Ni-Hard volute and a Ni-Hard recessed impeller that sits completely out of the flow path of the abrasive grit slurry, dramatically reducing wear from the abrasive material being handled. A heavy-duty solid stainless steel shaft, along with heavy-duty bearings and a mechanical seal, further extends service life under continuous abrasive-duty conditions. The PISTA® TURBO™ Grit Pump is available in 4″ and 6″ (100 mm and 150 mm) piping arrangements, allowing it to be matched to a range of grit removal system flow requirements. For plants still operating older air lift pumps installed prior to 1982, the top-mounted PISTA® TURBO™ Grit Pump offers a rugged upgrade path when plant flows have increased beyond the original air lift design. Paired with the PISTA® Grit Fluidizer, the grit hopper can also be kept free of compaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PISTA® TURBO™ Grit Pump is built exclusively for pumping grit separated from sewage. Its Ni-Hard recessed impeller sits completely out of the abrasive flow path, and it is paired with a Ni-Hard volute, heavy-duty solid stainless steel shaft, and heavy-duty bearings and mechanical seal to withstand continuous abrasive-duty service.

The PISTA® TURBO™ Grit Pump is available in a top-mounted, vacuum-primed configuration or a remote-mounted, flooded-suction configuration, with 4" and 6" (100 mm and 150 mm) piping arrangements to match a range of grit removal flow requirements.

Yes. Many plants still operate air lift pumps installed prior to 1982. If plant flow has since increased, the top-mounted PISTA® TURBO™ Grit Pump offers a rugged upgrade path, and pairing it with the PISTA® Grit Fluidizer helps prevent compaction in the grit hopper.
