S&L FAST®

The S&L FAST® Fixed Activated Sludge Treatment System is a fixed-film aerobic wastewater treatment process designed to manage variable flow and organic loading conditions. The system uses completely submerged media to provide a high surface area for biological growth, supporting stable treatment performance during both low-flow periods and peak usage.

Internal settling zones help retain a consistent biological population within the treatment tank, while the fixed-media process provides resistance to hydraulic and organic shock loads. With no internal moving parts, the S&L FAST® system offers a straightforward and dependable treatment solution with minimal routine operation.

S&L FAST® systems are available as factory-built modules or field-erected installations in steel or concrete configurations. The compact process can accommodate onsite wastewater applications such as schools, residential developments, commercial facilities, hotels, camps and restaurants, as well as larger municipal and industrial treatment requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

The system uses completely submerged fixed media to support biological growth within an aerobic treatment environment. Wastewater passes through the media, where microorganisms break down organic matter and support the required treatment processes.

Yes. The submerged media and internal settling zones maintain a stable biological population during periods of low flow, peak usage and changing organic loads. The process also provides strong resistance to hydraulic and organic shock loads.

S&L FAST® can be used for schools, residential developments, commercial facilities, hotels, camps, restaurants and other onsite wastewater applications. Factory-built and field-erected systems are also available for larger municipal and industrial requirements.

The process has no internal moving parts and typically does not require daily operator attention. Routine inspection and maintenance requirements depend on the final system configuration, site conditions and applicable regulatory requirements.
